The University of Business and Technology, in collaboration with CreativeMornings, hosted Engineer Hussein Bahri—a prominent Saudi entrepreneur and philanthropist on Saturday February 08, 2025. Eng. Bahri is the founder of The Arab Poultry Breeders Co., AlWedad for Orphan Care, and the Ekhwanakom Association for empowering orphans without guardians In his lecture titled “My Journey to the Million and the Blessings of Philanthropic Work,” Engineer Bahri shared valuable insights from his career. He emphasized that true success stems from a balanced pursuit of wealth, health, and philanthropy, attributing his achievements to an unwavering commitment to community service. The lecture was attended by over 100 members from both the university and the broader community.This event underscores the university’s commitment to integrating academic theory with practical experience and fostering social responsibility among future leaders.
The Film Commission hosted a Masterclass led by renowned film producer Habib Atia, in collaboration with the College of Advertising. The event brought together industry professionals and aspiring filmmakers, with Atia sharing insights on film production, industry trends, and career advice.Following the success of the Masterclass, a 3-day workshop offered hands-on experience in advanced filmmaking techniques from February 4th to 6th. This partnership aimed to equip emerging filmmakers with the skills necessary to thrive in the evolving industry.
Hospitality and Tourism students at the college of Business Administration, accompanied by the department faculty member Hussein Engawi, embarked on an experiential learning Journey. The group visited the prestigious Joudyan Hotel and Jeddah Edition Hotel, where they gained invaluable insights into the inner workings of a luxury hospitality establishment. Following the hotel visit, the students proceeded to the Jeddah Yacht Club, where they had the unique opportunity to explore an Italian Navy ship that is going towards an endeavor through the world, harbored in the marina. This immersive experience provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the tourism and hospitality industries, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application. UBT continues to prioritize experiential learning, fostering well-rounded graduates equipped to excel in their chosen fields.
The Marketing Club successfully launched its first-ever Student-to-Student Workshop Series this semester, an initiative supervised by Dr. Kholod Aggad and Dr. Abdulelah Althagafi, with the support of Head of Marketing Department Dr. Sharifah Ahmad. This series aims to provide a platform for students to lead engaging and insightful discussions on key marketing concepts while enhancing their peers’ learning experiences. The series began on February 3rd at the North Obhur campus with a workshop led by Abdullah Altowairqi, focusing on humor in marketing and how it serves as a powerful tool to connect with audiences. Students explored persuasive messaging techniques and analyzed real-world examples to better understand consumer behavior and the impact of humor in advertising strategies.The second session in the series took place today, February 5th, at the Corniche campus, led by Abdullah Altowairqi and Banan Ghassal. This session further amplified the series’ success, fostering lively discussions and offering practical insights into marketing principles. Special thanks to Marketing Club leaders Abdullah Altowairqi and Banan Ghassal for their dedication and effort in organizing these impactful sessions. The Marketing Club is excited to continue empowering students with hands-on learning opportunities and looks forward to hosting more sessions in the future.
Prof. Haneen Mohammad Shoaib, the Dean of the College of Business Administration, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and member of the Advisory Council to the University President, launched her first poetry book in English in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the University of Business and Technology, Dr. Abdullah bin Sadiq Dahlan. The event, organized by the university's library under the supervision of Ms. Haneen Al-Ghamdi and Ms. Jana Al-Alolyani, was attended by university leaders, faculty, and students. It was a celebration of creativity and knowledge. Prof. Haneen Shoaib expressed her delight and gratitude for this celebratory occasion marking her first release, which features a comprehensive portrayal of human emotions across its pages, addressing various themes such as love, separation, self-reliance, time, and life with its ups and downs, and human experience.
As part of its commitment to enhancing students’ skills and bridging the gap between academia and industry, the Marketing Department, in collaboration with Goody, has launched a real-life project designed to empower students with hands-on experience in marketing research within a competitive and practical environment.This initiative, coordinated by Dr. Kholod Aggad with Goody, will be supervised by both Marketing Research instructors—Dr. Kholod Aggad and Professor Mohammad Zulfeequar, who provide academic guidance and support to ensure students gain the maximum educational benefit.During the introductory session, which was attended by Goody representatives, Ms. Asma Muqaibil and Mr. Hammad Ghadai, the team met with 55 participating students, offering them a comprehensive briefing on the challenge, answering their questions, and outlining a clear roadmap to help them confidently navigate this competitive experience.Dr. Sharifah Ahmed, Head of the Marketing Department, emphasized the importance of this competition in refining students’ skills and preparing them for real-world marketing challenges. She praised this valuable collaboration and encouraged all students to actively participate and make the most of this opportunity to engage with industry experts.A special thank you to Goody and their representatives, Ms. Asma Muqaibil and Mr. Hammad Ghadai, for their continued support of such educational initiatives, which strengthen the partnership between academia and the business sector and contribute to equipping students with the skills necessary for future career success.
As part of its commitment to social responsibility and the development of educational leadership, the University of Business and Technology (UBT) launched a leadership training program to prepare the second tier of leadership within the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah. The program was organized under the supervision of the Deanship of Community Responsibility and the Training Center, with sessions led by Dr. Ahmed Al-Asfahani, Associate Professor of Human Resource Management at the College of Business Administration.Spanning three consecutive days, from January 27 to 29, the program focused on key leadership concepts, leadership traits and skills, and strategies to enhance influence and impact. The sessions combined theoretical knowledge with practical applications, ensuring an engaging and interactive learning experience.The program saw the participation of 26 members from various departments of the directorate, equipping them with essential tools and knowledge to support their professional development and contribute to the realization of Saudi Vision 2030.The program concluded with a leadership seminar featuring insights from Ms. Manal Al-Luhaibi, Director General of Education in Jeddah, and Dr. Abdullah Sadiq Dahlan, Chairman of UBT’s Board of Trustees.During the session, Ms. Al-Luhaibi emphasized that effective leadership requires a clear vision and long-term strategies, highlighting the importance of leadership succession to ensure efficiency and institutional sustainability. She also underscored the role of continuous education and professional development as fundamental pillars of effective leadership.Dr. Dahlan, in turn, stressed that leadership is not merely a position but a responsibility shaped by experiences and challenges. He highlighted the importance of investing in leadership development, reaffirming the university’s role in empowering and equipping leaders to drive transformation and progress.This program reflects UBT’s ongoing commitment to supporting and developing national talents through high-quality training initiatives that foster leadership thinking, excellence, and innovation in professional environments.
As part of enhancing communication between the administration and students, Dr. Hatoon Qadi, the Dean of the College of Advertising, organized a “Meet the Dean” meeting with students on Monday, January 27. The meeting was attended by students from the English Language Academy (ELA) as well as those from the college. The session aimed to introduce students to the college, its various specializations, and the opportunities available to them in the fields of advertising.The meeting featured an interactive atmosphere, with dedicated time for students to ask questions and raise inquiries. This provided them with the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the academic programs and career prospects within the field. The event also included a lively competition between college staff and students, with prizes awarded to the winners, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and engagement.At the conclusion of the meeting, students had the chance to interact directly with the Dean, who addressed their inquiries and shared her vision for the future of the advertising field and the importance of education in this specialization.
As part of efforts to strengthen the role of academia and the community in developing the Hajj and Umrah ecosystem, Dr. Bandar Altubaishe and Dr. Karim Soliman from the Department of Supply Chain Management at the College of Business Administration participated in the fourth edition of the Hajj and Umrah Conference and Exhibition. The event, held under the theme “A Passage to Nusuk”, took place from January 13 to 16, 2025, at the Jeddah Superdome under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The conference was organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in collaboration with the Pilgrim Experience Program, with the attendance of prominent leaders, decision-makers, and experts in the fields of Hajj, Umrah, and related logistics services.Participation in the “Hajj Talk” InitiativeDuring the conference, Dr. Bandar Altubaishe spoke about the role of the Circular Economy in developing sustainable supply chains to serve pilgrims as part of the “Hajj Talk” initiative. This initiative aims to spotlight innovations and creative solutions that enhance the experience of pilgrims and Umrah performers. The session showcased key digital transformations contributing to improved service efficiency for pilgrims and better logistical service quality. Topics included solutions involving artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain technologies and their applications in waste management and crowd control, and smart energy management systems.Recognition of ContributionsAt the conclusion of the event, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah presented Dr. Bandar Altubaishe and Dr. Karim Soliman with a commemorative shield in recognition of their efforts and contributions to this significant national event. Professor Haneen Shoaib, Dean of the College of Business Administration, expressed her gratitude for the dedication of the faculty members in participating in such events, which enhance the standing of the University of Business and Technology and its service to the community.
The college of Business Administration of the university of Business and technology supports entrepreneurship through its active participation in the Entrepreneurship Support Conference held in Jeddah as part of Education Week activities represented by Dr. Saad Basaad, Assistant Professor at the College of Business Administration who gave a workshop, titled "The Role of Educational Institutions in Supporting Entrepreneurship," which highlighted the importance of research and development, fostering innovation, and creating an enabling environment to transform ideas into successful industrial projects. The workshop focused on the key challenges faced by young innovators and entrepreneurs, showcasing successful models from UBT’s Techno Valley. It provides a comprehensive environment that supports innovation from the ideation phase to product commercialization.Additionally, the workshop emphasized the university's ongoing initiatives to promote applied research and encourage collaboration between academics and entrepreneurs to build a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem.
