The projects presented creative ideas and innovative solutions with strong potential for application in the labor market. Workshop on Zakat and Direct and Indirect Taxes

CBA, represented by the Accounting Department, organized a professional workshop titled “Introduction to Zakat and Direct and Indirect Taxes” under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Qotob and Dr. Eman Attia, and with the support of the Dean of the College, Dr. Ameen Alharbi, in collaboration with Ernst & Young. The workshop was attended by over 60 students from various majors and academic levels. The session hosted four specialists from the company: Dr. Ahmed Mubarak, Mr. Mohammed Fawzi, Mr. Aws Filmaban, and Mr. Ahmed Abdel-Maqsoud. The session covered several important topics, including the Zakat and tax systems in Saudi Arabia, practices of direct and indirect taxation, customs and international trade regulations, and career opportunities in taxation and consulting, in addition to the evolving role of accounting professionals in today’s business environment.
The lecture provided an interactive learning environment where students engaged with industry experts, asked questions, and strengthened their understanding of how academic knowledge connects to real-world practice. The Intellectual Awareness Unit at the University of Business and Technology participated in the Second Scientific Forum for Graduate Students at Umm Al-Qura University, titled “Enhancing Intellectual Awareness and National Belonging,” held on Monday, May 11, 2026. Professor Dr. Najat Al-Yazji, General Supervisor of the Intellectual Awareness Unit, and Dr. Wafaa Abdulbadee Al-Yafi, a member of the Intellectual Awareness Unit represented the Unit. They participated in the evaluation of research papers, scientific posters, and artistic works presented at the forum. This participation reflects the Intellectual Awareness Unit’s commitment to supporting scientific research and promoting the concepts of intellectual awareness and national belonging among graduate students, contributing to the creation of an academically aware environment that encourages creativity and scientific excellence. CBA organized an educational visit to York Johnson Controls, under the supervision of Dr. Dania Shaikh, the visit provided students with valuable hands-on exposure to the linear manufacturing process and included tours of soundproof rooms used for A/C testing. Students also observed various operational departments, including cable connection systems where women professionals actively contribute to production activities. In addition, they were introduced to the innovation systems, showcasing smart solutions for homes and offices through collaboration with Microsoft.
The visit concluded with a meeting with the HR team, who encouraged students to apply for the COOP program, opening opportunities for future careers within Johnson Controls.

UBT Students participated in applied Educational Experience

CBA represented by the RTL Department under the supervision of Dr. Sara Zakour, organized an applied educational experience through a workshop hosted by Mr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, founder of “Tabour” Restaurants, with the aim of connecting academic knowledge with real-world practices in the restaurant and retail sectors.
The educational workshop covered the stages of product development, starting from market research and customer needs analysis to pricing, financial planning, and marketing campaign design. Students directly participated in developing two new products, “Turkish Egg” and “Pesto Chicken,” where they selected ingredients, studied costs, and prepared marketing plans as part of a practical experience simulating a real business environment.
In a step reflecting the success of the initiative, both products were officially launched at the “Tabour” branch in Al Nahda District, highlighting the successful collaboration between the university and the private sector in providing students with realistic professional experiences.
Special thanks were extended to Mr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi for sharing his expertise, and Ms. Maria Mubarak and Mr. Abdullah Bawazir for their efforts in supporting and ensuring the success of the initiative.

UBT at the L’Oréal Brandstorm Finals

CBA, represented by the Marketing Department, achieved a remarkable accomplishment at the finals of the L’Oréal Brandstorm competition, one of the world’s leading contests in marketing innovation and creativity. our student teams from the university advanced to the top eight finalists across the Kingdom, representing half of the national teams. This achievement reflects the quality of their innovative ideas, outstanding performance, and confidence in delivering professional presentations. The winning team, led by Marketing Club President AlFaisal Alghamdi, and team members Abdulaziz Alqayn and Ammar Koshak, has qualified to represent the Kingdom at the global finals, which will be held in Paris in June 2026.

UBT Organizes the Third Research Symposium and Showcases Student Research Excellence

The Deanship of Scientific Research (DSR) at the University of Business and Technology (UBT) successfully held the Third Research Symposium for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students on April 28–29, 2026, at the Main Lobby, UBT Corniche Campus. The symposium provided a dynamic platform for students to present their innovative research and contribute to the advancement of knowledge across various disciplines. A total of 36 research papers were presented during the symposium, including 31 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate projects, all competing for the Dr. Abdullah Dahlan Student Research Award. The research addressed critical global challenges and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas such as innovation, quality education, and sustainable development. UBT management, faculty members, and students actively attended and engaged in discussions throughout the event, offering valuable insights and constructive feedback to participants. This strong interaction reflects UBT’s ongoing commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture and supporting academic excellence. The symposium highlighted the importance of student research as a cornerstone of the university’s mission, promoting creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. It also reinforced UBT’s strategic vision of strengthening its position as a leading institution in research and innovation.

DSR Open Discussion Sessions with Colleges

The Deanship of Scientific Research at the University of Business and Technology held a series of open discussion sessions with the university’s colleges during April 2026, including the College of Business Administration and the College of Law, as well as the College of Advertising and the College of Engineering. The sessions aimed to discuss the 2026 research targets and define research priorities across colleges.
The meetings witnessed active engagement from faculty members, who contributed valuable ideas and initiatives to enhance research productivity and expand both local and international research collaboration, in alignment with the university’s vision of achieving research excellence and fostering innovation.
During the sessions, the Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Ruaa Binsaddig, highlighted the Deanship’s key achievements in 2025, which included significant growth in Scopus-indexed publications, an increase in active researchers, strengthened international research collaborations, and the organization of conferences and scientific initiatives. 
The discussions also addressed the 2026 publication targets for each college, along with strategic pathways to achieve these goals through researcher support, activation of research groups, and increased student involvement in research projects.
The sessions reflected a strong spirit of collaboration and commitment among faculty members toward achieving research excellence, supporting the University of Business and Technology’s continued progress as a leading institution in research at both national and international levels.

In a first-of-its-kind step, UBT represented by the Education Support Center, signed a cooperation agreement with Masar Center for Mental Health to enhance psychological support services and improve students’ quality of life on campus.
The agreement aims to provide awareness programs, psychological consultations, and specialized workshops that support the mental well-being of students and staff, helping them maintain a balance between academic and personal life.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the university by Dr. Ramzia Albakri, Vice President for Student Affairs. Representing Masar Center, Dr. Sayed Abdulqader, Medical Director and Head of the Psychiatry Department, signed the agreement. The signing was attended by Dr. Dina Dahlan, Consultant to the University Vice Presidency for Student Affairs, along with members of the Education Support Center team, Ms. Noha Albarakati and Mr. Fehr Shoaib.

During the visit, students explored key departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Sales & Marketing. They observed how guest experiences are managed from check-in to check-out, learned about service quality standards, and engaged with professionals on topics such as revenue management, customer satisfaction, and operational coordination. UBT hosted a seminar titled “The Role of Sports Management in Shaping Champions,” represented by the Department of Sports Management at CBA, headed by Dr. Mashael Batarfi. The event was held under the patronage, presence, support, and encouragement of Dr. Abdullah bin Sadiq Dahlan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Dr. Weam bin Hosni Tunsi, University President; and Dr. Mahmoud Baissa, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, with the attendance of a distinguished group of experts, specialists, and individuals interested in the sports field. The seminar was organized by the Saudi Sports Management Association, in collaboration with the Arab Scientific Society for Sports Sciences and the Arab Federation for Sports Management and sponsored by the Ministry of Sport and the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development.


The seminar featured participation from Mr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Aboud, Director General of the Ministry of Sport branch in the Makkah Region; Dr. Naouk Risan Khraibet Majeed, Chairman of the Arab Scientific Society for Sports Sciences; Dr. Abdulatif bin Ibrahim Bukhari, Chairman of the Arab Federation for Sports Management; and Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Alissa, Chairman of the Saudi Sports Management Association. The seminar addressed the role of sports management in preparing and shaping champions, highlighting the importance of integration between academic and sports institutions in developing national talent and enhancing sports excellence. An awareness trip to Erada Psychological Complex (Al-Amal Hospital)

The Intellectual Awareness Unit at the University of Business and Technology organized an educational visit for its students to the Erada and Mental Health Complex (Al-Amal Hospital), with the aim of enhancing awareness of mental health and introducing the therapeutic and rehabilitation services provided in this field.The visit included an introductory tour of the complex’s various departments. The students were warmly received by Dr. Khalid Al-Oufi, General Supervisor of the Erada and Mental Health Complex, and Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, Director of the Health Awareness Department. During the tour, students were introduced to the operational mechanisms of the complex, as well as its psychological rehabilitation programs and addiction treatment services.The visit also featured an awareness Lecture delivered by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, who discussed the concept of addiction, its various types, and the psychological, social, and environmental factors that contribute to it. . The Lecture emphasized the importance of prevention and community awareness, as well as the vital role of families and educational institutions in reducing the spread of this issue. Mr. Al-Ghamdi further addressed the modern treatment programs adopted by the complex, including behavioral and cognitive therapies, rehabilitation programs, and ongoing psychological support. He stressed the importance of seeking help early and encouraged individuals not to hesitate in utilizing the available services. Students expressed their appreciation for the visit, noting that it helped correct many misconceptions about mental illness and addiction. They affirmed that the experience enhanced their understanding of the importance of mental health as an integral part of overall well-being and provided them with practical insights on how to deal with such issues responsibly and with awareness. The visit also offered them a valuable opportunity to observe firsthand the efforts made in providing care and support to patients. At the conclusion of the visit, the Intellectual Awareness Unit reaffirmed its commitment to organizing such awareness programs, which contribute to building responsible student awareness and strengthening the university’s role in serving the community. The initiative reflects the university’s dedication to preparing a generation that is both physically and mentally aware, capable of facing challenges and promoting positive awareness within society.

UBT participated in the Sports Forum for Women’s Empowerment in the Sports Sector

CBA represented by the Sports Management Program, took part in the International Sports Forum organized by Women in the Middle East and North Africa (WIMENA) in collaboration with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in Riyadh. The forum aimed to support and empower Saudi women in the field of sports. The participation came upon an invitation from the organizing body to attend the forum held alongside the Women’s Golf Final hosted in Riyadh over three days.
The forum served as a platform for exchanging ideas and expertise in women’s sports, as well as highlighting successful experiences of Saudi women in the sector. Sports Management students also met with leading female professionals in the sports industry at both the local and international levels.
Dr. Mashael Batarfi, Head of the Sports Management Department, emphasized the importance of students attending such events and forums, as they contribute to developing their skills and experiences while linking theoretical knowledge with practical application. It was presented by Mr. Khalid bin Mohammed Fidaa Bahjat, a lawyer, certified public accountant, and bankruptcy trustee, on Tuesday, February 17, at the university campus in North Obhur.

UBT Participates in Water Sector Hackathon

The College of Business Administration, represented by the Retail Management Department faculty member Dr. Sarah Zakour, participated in the Water Sector Hackathon held from 8 to 10 December. The event aimed to foster innovation and support the development of market-ready solutions in the water sector.
Dr. Zakour supervised the mentoring activities throughout the hackathon, which included in-person and virtual bootcamps followed by a final phase focused on investor pitching, market entry strategies, and the development of strategic partnerships.
On 9 December, Dr. Sarah led the one-to-one mentoring sessions in collaboration with a team of experienced mentors. These sessions focused on enhancing investment readiness, refining business models, strengthening market validation, and identifying partnership opportunities. Through her supervisory role, Dr. Zakour helped improve the mentoring outcomes and supported teams in advancing their innovations toward scalable, market-ready solutions.

University of Business and Technology Secures Silver in Recreational Dodgeball Championship

The University of Business and Technology (UBT) proudly celebrates the achievement of its women’s dodgeball team, who earned second place in the Recreational Dodgeball Championship held on Monday, February 16, 2026. The tournament was organized by Jeddah International College under the supervision of the Saudi University Sports Federation. Representing UBT, eight talented student-athletes competed among six universities and more than 40 players in a highly competitive environment. The championship showcased the continued growth of dodgeball within Saudi universities and reflected the strong determination, resilience, and sportsmanship demonstrated by UBT’s team, who delivered an outstanding performance all the way to the final match. This participation aligns with the strategic goals of the Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Women’s Sports Club at the Corniche Campus. Through such initiatives, UBT remains committed to empowering female students in sports, fostering a culture of physical activity, and providing meaningful opportunities for participation in university championships. University of Business and Technology Hosts the Project Management Championship in Partnership with Beyond Academy

The University of Business and Technology (UBT) hosted the Project Management Championship, organized by Beyond Academy and strategically sponsored by UBT, with the participation of more than 70 students from various universities.
The championship aimed to enhance students’ practical project management skills and equip them with key competencies highly demanded in the job market, including planning, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making. The initiative was designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice, preparing students to meet the evolving needs of today’s labor market.
 
Over the course of the championship, which spanned several days, participants took part in intensive training sessions and competitive project challenges, where they had the opportunity to present their ideas and projects before industry professionals and experts in an interactive learning environment that combined both academic and practical perspectives.
 
The championship concluded with a closing ceremony, during which the results were announced. Team Flow, from the College of Engineering, secured second place, following an outstanding performance that reflected a high level of professionalism and strong teamwork.

CBA represented by the RTL Department under the supervision of Dr. Sara Zakour, organized an applied educational experience through a workshop hosted by Mr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, founder of “Tabour” Restaurants, with the aim of connecting academic knowledge with real-world practices in the restaurant and retail sectors.
The educational workshop covered the stages of product development, starting from market research and customer needs analysis to pricing, financial planning, and marketing campaign design. Students directly participated in developing two new products, “Turkish Egg” and “Pesto Chicken,” where they selected ingredients, studied costs, and prepared marketing plans as part of a practical experience simulating a real business environment.
In a step reflecting the success of the initiative, both products were officially launched at the “Tabour” branch in Al Nahda District, highlighting the successful collaboration between the university and the private sector in providing students with realistic professional experiences.

The Deanship of Scientific Research (DSR) at the University of Business and Technology (UBT) successfully held the Third Research Symposium for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students on April 28–29, 2026, at the Main Lobby, UBT Corniche Campus. The symposium provided a dynamic platform for students to present their innovative research and contribute to the advancement of knowledge across various disciplines. A total of 36 research papers were presented during the symposium, including 31 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate projects, all competing for the Dr. Abdullah Dahlan Student Research Award. The research addressed critical global challenges and aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas such as innovation, quality education, and sustainable development. UBT management, faculty members, and students actively attended and engaged in discussions throughout the event, offering valuable insights and constructive feedback to participants. This strong interaction reflects UBT’s ongoing commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture and supporting academic excellence. The students were warmly received by Dr. Khalid Al-Oufi, General Supervisor of the Erada and Mental Health Complex, and Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, Director of the Health Awareness Department. During the tour, students were introduced to the operational mechanisms of the complex, as well as its psychological rehabilitation programs and addiction treatment services.The visit also featured an awareness Lecture delivered by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, who discussed the concept of addiction, its various types, and the psychological, social, and environmental factors that contribute to it. . The Lecture emphasized the importance of prevention and community awareness, as well as the vital role of families and educational institutions in reducing the spread of this issue. Mr. Al-Ghamdi further addressed the modern treatment programs adopted by the complex, including behavioral and cognitive therapies, rehabilitation programs, and ongoing psychological support. He stressed the importance of seeking help early and encouraged individuals not to hesitate in utilizing the available services. Students expressed their appreciation for the visit, noting that it helped correct many misconceptions about mental illness and addiction. They affirmed that the experience enhanced their understanding of the importance of mental health as an integral part of overall well-being and provided them with practical insights on how to deal with such issues responsibly and with awareness. The visit also offered them a valuable opportunity to observe firsthand the efforts made in providing care and support to patients. Co-authored with Kotler-i & Partners and Malek Aljaafreh, and developed in collaboration with Professor Philip Kotler, widely regarded as the father of modern marketing, this book offers a modern, practical, and Saudi-focused perspective on marketing management, and is now available online. The book is an excellent resource for students, faculty, and practitioners.

UBT participated in the Sports Forum for Women’s Empowerment in the Sports Sector

CBA represented by the Sports Management Program, took part in the International Sports Forum organized by Women in the Middle East and North Africa (WIMENA) in collaboration with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in Riyadh. The forum aimed to support and empower Saudi women in the field of sports. The participation came upon an invitation from the organizing body to attend the forum held alongside the Women’s Golf Final hosted in Riyadh over three days.
The forum served as a platform for exchanging ideas and expertise in women’s sports, as well as highlighting successful experiences of Saudi women in the sector. Sports Management students also met with leading female professionals in the sports industry at both the local and international levels.
Dr. Mashael Batarfi, Head of the Sports Management Department, emphasized the importance of students attending such events and forums, as they contribute to developing their skills and experiences while linking theoretical knowledge with practical application. She added that this participation represents an important step in strengthening strategic partnerships and building professional networks with local and international experts, which enhances students’ competencies and prepares them for careers in the sports sector.

Workshop on Financial Fraud

The College of Business Administration at UBT, through the Accounting Department, organized a workshop on financial fraud. It was presented by Mr. Khalid bin Mohammed Fidaa Bahjat, a lawyer, certified public accountant, and bankruptcy trustee, on Tuesday, February 17, at the university campus in North Obhur.
Students actively participated in the discussion and appreciated the scientific content and practical real-life examples, which helped them better understand financial fraud and how it works. Around 50 students attended, in the presence of the college’s Vice Dean, Dr. Abdullah Silawi, and faculty members from the Accounting Department.

The College of Business Administration at UBT, represented by the Retail Management Department and under the supervision of its faculty member Dr. Sarah Zakor, hosted a guest lecture presented by Mr. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, founder of Tabor Restaurant. The lecture aimed to strengthen experiential learning within the retail and entrepreneurship curriculum.
Attended by approximately fifty students, the session focused on the critical question of entrepreneurial timing, exploring when to launch a business,, and when restraint may be the smarter choice. It bridged theoretical frameworks with real-world practice, addressing challenges in the retail and food service sectors.
Students learned from Mr. Al-Ghamdi’s entrepreneurial experience, discussing decision-making, risk, and market readiness. The initiative highlights the commitment to applied learning, strengthening students’ professional skills and promoting academic-industry collaboration.

UBT Participates in Water Sector Hackathon

The College of Business Administration, represented by the Retail Management Department faculty member Dr. Sarah Zakour, participated in the Water Sector Hackathon held from 8 to 10 December. The event aimed to foster innovation and support the development of market-ready solutions in the water sector.
Dr. Zakour supervised the mentoring activities throughout the hackathon, which included in-person and virtual bootcamps followed by a final phase focused on investor pitching, market entry strategies, and the development of strategic partnerships.
On 9 December, Dr. Sarah led the one-to-one mentoring sessions in collaboration with a team of experienced mentors. These sessions focused on enhancing investment readiness, refining business models, strengthening market validation, and identifying partnership opportunities. Through her supervisory role, Dr. Zakour helped improve the mentoring outcomes and supported teams in advancing their innovations toward scalable, market-ready solutions.

University of Business and Technology Secures Silver in Recreational Dodgeball Championship

The University of Business and Technology (UBT) proudly celebrates the achievement of its women’s dodgeball team, who earned second place in the Recreational Dodgeball Championship held on Monday, February 16, 2026. The tournament was organized by Jeddah International College under the supervision of the Saudi University Sports Federation. Representing UBT, eight talented student-athletes competed among six universities and more than 40 players in a highly competitive environment. The championship showcased the continued growth of dodgeball within Saudi universities and reflected the strong determination, resilience, and sportsmanship demonstrated by UBT’s team, who delivered an outstanding performance all the way to the final match. This participation aligns with the strategic goals of the Deanship of Student Affairs, represented by the Women’s Sports Club at the Corniche Campus. Through such initiatives, UBT remains committed to empowering female students in sports, fostering a culture of physical activity, and providing meaningful opportunities for participation in university championships. These efforts contribute to developing leadership skills, strengthening teamwork, and enhancing the University’s position in the Physical and Sports Performance Index among Saudi universities. UBT was represented at the meeting by Prof. Haneen Mohammad Shoaib, Consultsnt of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, as part of the efforts to enhance international academic cooperation and explore opportunities for institutional partnerships and the exchange of expertise across a range of academic and research fields. Dr. Karim Soliman, Head of the Supply Chain Management Department, congratulated the students and praised their hard work, dedication, and commitment during the program. The University of Business and Technology (UBT) participated in the World Aviation Day event held at Flyadeal Headquarters in Jeddah, organized by Global Shapers – Jeddah Hub in collaboration with Flyadeal, as part of an educational and career-focused initiative aimed at introducing students to professional opportunities within the aviation sector. The visit aimed to provide students with insights into career pathways in the aviation industry, as well as exposure to inspiring professional experiences shared by Flyadeal executives and staff. Students also took part in interactive and discussion sessions covering key areas such as operations, commercial functions, and finance. The event additionally included a guided tour of the company’s headquarters, allowing students to explore the work environment firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of the nature of careers in the aviation sector, contributing to the expansion of their professional perspectives. University of Business and Technology Hosts the Project Management Championship in Partnership with Beyond Academy

The University of Business and Technology (UBT) hosted the Project Management Championship, organized by Beyond Academy and strategically sponsored by UBT, with the participation of more than 70 students from various universities.
The championship aimed to enhance students’ practical project management skills and equip them with key competencies highly demanded in the job market, including planning, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making. The initiative was designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice, preparing students to meet the evolving needs of today’s labor market.
 
Over the course of the championship, which spanned several days, participants took part in intensive training sessions and competitive project challenges, where they had the opportunity to present their ideas and projects before industry professionals and experts in an interactive learning environment that combined both academic and practical perspectives.
 
The championship concluded with a closing ceremony, during which the results were announced. Team Flow, from the College of Engineering, secured second place, following an outstanding performance that reflected a high level of professionalism and strong teamwork.
 
UBT extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Basmah El-Zein for delivering an inspiring motivational talk to the participants during the championship activities, and to Dr. Bandar Al-Tubaishe for his valuable contribution as a member of the judging panel and his role in evaluating the projects.
