An introduction to ELA

The English Language Academy (ELA) of the University of Business and Technology (UBT) was established in 2011 to prepare students for their university journey and to improve their English proficiency level.

To meet university admissions standard, ELA adopts a modern teaching approach that corresponds to students’ needs while providing an array of learning resources ranging from textbooks to digital platforms and user-friendly applications.

ELA offers an intensive academic English language preparation program. The Program is tailored to prepare students to join UBT with a language proficiency level equivalent to 5.0 in IELTS or 59 in TOEFL IBT. The language program therefore focuses on improving both receptive skills (listening and reading), and productive skills (writing and speaking).

By employing the latest technological advancements that aid the educational process, ELA students are also provided with the tools and knowledge that empower them to excel in their academic degree programs and fulfill their career goals. All our classes are equipped with Smart Boards, projectors, and all communication with the students is through Moodle.

In addition, ELA adopts a fair policy of disciplinary rules and regulations to create a friendly learning environment that promotes professional ethics vital for students in their professional careers. ELA instructors, native or near native speakers, are carefully hired based on precise qualifications and criteria.
