Fourteen volunteers from the College of Business Administration (CBA) at the University of Business and Technology (UBT) participated in a volunteer initiative in the Al-Haram Al-Sharif area in Makkah Al-Mukarramah on Sunday, 3/24/2024. The students distributed 7,600 breakfast meals to pilgrims coming from Al-Zaidi parking lots, in cooperation with the Al-Bir Society in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.The Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Haneen Mohammad Shoaib, emphasized the importance of these volunteer contributions that represent one of the basic pillars of the University of Business and Technology, which is community service, and extends many thanks to the Student Council President, Abdul Malik Sufyan, for his efforts in making this initiative a success with his fellow students (Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, Muhammad Al-Zahrani, Abdulrahman Al-Qahtani, Mohammad Bassar, Omar Hamada, Zuhair Habis, Mohammad Al-Amoudi, Omar Badri, Abdulwakeel Al-Jafari, Rayan Alourga, Mohammad Algouss, Osama Bakhshwain, and Youssef Abulola) who represent good role models. In conclusion, thanks go to the Al-Bir Society in Makkah Al-Mukarramah for their welcome and cooperation with the university students.
The University of Business and Technology engaged in an iftar campaign distributing meals to underprivileged families in Al-Ruwais neighborhood in Jeddah. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Joy of Youth Association and under the supervision and coordination of the University's Center for Community Responsibility and the Volunteer Club of the Deanship of Student Affairs. The initiative saw the participation of students from all four colleges of the university, as well as several faculty members and university staff. They enthusiastically joined us in this community initiative on Friday 12th Ramadan 1445H March 22, 2024G. The objective of this initiative is to enhance the participation of university students and staff in community activities and events, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all participants for their efforts and sense of social responsibility.
UBT is thrilled to announce that Dr. Basma EL zein, the Director General of the Techno Valley at UBT, Jeddah, KSA, has been selected as one of the finalists for the prestigious Global Energy Transition Awards 2024, organized by Reuters. She has been recognized in the “Woman for Women” category for her outstanding contributions to the energy transition sector. The Global Energy Transition Awards recognize and celebrate the remarkable efforts and achievements of individuals and organizations driving innovation, sustainability, and progress in the global energy landscape. The Global Energy Transition Awards 2024 winners will be revealed during the event scheduled for June 2024.
UBT participated in the ‘QS Higher Ed Summit: Middle East 2024’ that was organized and hosted by QS Quacquarelli Symonds & American University of Ras Al Khaimah at Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, 27-29 February 2024. The theme of the Summit, "Cultures of innovation: Elevating quality education for a thriving Middle East" was attended by distinguished and higher education leaders from 35 countries. Dr. Aimen Maghrabi and Dr. Seraj Zahran represented UBT in the Summit.
The University of Business and Technology (UBT), in collaboration with the AlBir Society Jeddah, organized a seminar titled “Volunteering: A Leader’s Vision and a Nation’s Message,” to share experiences and expertise in volunteer work, promote a culture of volunteering, and exchange knowledge in community development. In coordination with the Training Center at UBT, the meeting began with a workshop on professional volunteering presented by Dr. YanAllah Al-Qarni, a faculty member at King Abdulaziz University specialized in curriculum and teaching development. Al-Qarni discussed the importance of sustainable volunteering and shared the main elements of professional volunteer work. The Community Responsibility Center at UBT also organized a panel of inspiring speakers who shared their experience in volunteer and humanitarian work. Speakers included Mr. Mohammed Saeed AbuMilha, a member of the Board of Directors of AlBir Society Jeddah and the President of the Volunteer Club; Eng. Muhi-Aldeen Yahya Hakami, the CEO of AlBir Society Jeddah; Mr. Rayan Omar Bawakid, the Director of Volunteering at the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Jeddah; and Ms. Jude Ahmed Jamjom, a founding partner at Jeddah Tribe. Mr. Mohammed Saeed AbuMilha provided an overview of AlBir Society Jeddah and highlighted the society’s programs and services that meet the needs of families, orphans, and kidney failure patients. AbuMilha emphasized their commitment to maximize the impact of volunteer work in line with the Saudi vision 2030. Eng. Muhi-Aldeen Yahya Hakami, the CEO of AlBir Society Jeddah, discussed the society’s efforts in social work and sustainable impact and discussed its transformation into an economic entity that provides charitable services to different kinds of beneficiaries with professionalism. Mr. Ryan Omar Bawakid, the Director of Volunteer Management at the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, presented the various fields available for volunteering at the Saudi Red Crescent, which included: emergency medical services, education, environment, and humanitarian aid. He shared how volunteering has affected his personal life, as he has been involved in volunteer work for over 13 years. Ms. Jude Ahmed Jamjoom, a founding partner at Jeddah Tribe, shed light on the club’s activities and its contribution to developing the sport of triathlon (swimming, running, cycling) in Saudi Arabia. Their vision includes promoting all forms and distances of triathlon races in the Kingdom through raising awareness, organizing races, and training local talents. Jamjoom also highlighted Jeddah Tribe’s experiences in sustainable volunteer work. UBT extends its thanks to all participants who inspired the audience with their stories and diverse experiences in volunteering. At the university we seek to create transformative experiences for students through knowledge-sharing sessions in order to enhance the learning experience for students, faculty members, and staff.
"The Deanship of Scientific Research held an open discussion session with the College of Business Administration and the College of Advertising on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Faculty members shared valuable insights and raised inquiries regarding research initiatives within the University of Business and Technology. Topics ranged from enhancing participation in research initiatives to exploring avenues of innovation and collaboration. In addition, the Dean of Research Affairs, Dr. Ruaa Bin Saddig, showcased the department's key achievements in 2023, emphasizing the pivotal role and valuable contributions of faculty members and research coordinators in the colleges as indispensable success partners. The discussion also revealed the new publishing target for 2024 and explored strategic pathways to effectively achieve this goal. Faculty members demonstrated a cooperative spirit and dedication to achieving research excellence, which is an essential part of the University of Business and Technology's pursuit of research excellence.
The University of Business and Technology is proud of the participation of the university team from the College of Business Administration, from the Department of Business Analysis and Management Information Systems, presenting their project for four days in LEAP24 as the competition winner of the sustainability track. Those students are Dina Al-Khammash, Samia Idris, Lulwa Al-Sanea, and Milaf Bin Halabi, under the supervision of their instructor Dr. Halah Nasseif. Students from the Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering, together with their supervisors (Dr. Mohammed Saharti and Dr. Faisal Arafsha), attended the LEAP24 conference in Riyadh. To Support the participating university team and attend exhibition forums and technical projects. UBT extends its congratulations to female students who ranked first at the level of Saudi Arabian universities in the sustainability track and moreover, placing 2nd runner up in the final stage, which was announced on March 5, is an excellent accomplishment. Dr. Haneen Mohammad Shoaib, the Dean of the College of Business and Administration, expressed her gratitude and pride in the students' accomplishments, as well as their tireless efforts to improve the project, along with her sincere appreciation for Dr. Hala Nassif, their supervisor. Thanks are extended to the University Vice Presidents attending the ceremony announcing the winners, Dr. Fahad Aldhaban and Dr. Ghada Nassif, and to the Director of E-Learning department, Dr. Amjad Roboey, for their exceptional support of female students. Competitions of this type are important initiatives and activities that demonstrate the university's commitment to the educational experience of its students. This is considered one of the university's most important main goals and aids in the achievement of its strategic vision and slogan, which emphasizes education for job opportunities and entrepreneurship.
The University of Business and Technology through the College of Business Administration and its Department of Business Analytics and Management Information Systems is proud to participate in the Aamn Cybersecurity Awareness Program exhibition. That is through the Head of Department Dr Amira Alturki and some of the department’s students. The exhibition, is organized by the National Cybersecurity Authority, and takes place in Jeddah Superdome. The participation emphasized the commitment of the college to promote cybersecurity awareness in education within the Kingdom. The delegates look forward to engage with different participants to learn about the latest trends and best practices in cybersecurity.
The UBT team of students from the College of Business administration (CBA) (Samiya Idress, Dina Alkhammash, Lolwah Alsanee and Melaf Bin Halabi) part of the Business Analytics and Management Information System(BAIS) department , led by Dr. Halah Nasseif, Assistant Professor at BAIS, participated in the Software AG LEAP 2024 finale competition showcase at LEAP, Riyadh , March 4th to March 7th . This 3rd edition of the competition “The Future Disruptors Program” at Software AG started back in October 2023, and out of 26 Universities, 1000 students across 356 teams among the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia, the top 3 team winners were selected in February of 2024, in each of the competition tracks (Sustainability, Tourism and Supply Chain). The UBT/BAIS team won the first place in the Sustainability track and was one of the 3 teams shortlisted to present their showcases at LEAP24 booth. The UBT/BAIS team presented a prototype solution, called” Aqua Sensor”, an innovative water sustainability solution, integrating advanced data analytics into a sensor system and application. Aqua Sensor aims to track water usage and loss, trigger alerts and analyze current and historic data. The objective of Aqua Sensor is water conservation for homeowners and businesses to conserve water , save money and fulfill the UN SDG goal 6 that aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. The BAIS students have created a dashboard using Cumulocity IoT Platform to link the volume and depth water data collected from the water sensors, and built an application that is composed of many gadgets as charts analysis for each sensor placed in different location of the home or business branches, alerts gadget, maps and more. The UBT/BAIS team showcased their Aqua Sensor prototype at the Software AG software Booth and got many visitors, experts, students and companies in the 4 days at LEAP with many discussions, expert advice and suggestions. The 3 teams competed on LEAP’s second day, and the BAIS team provided captivated performance with lots of questions and discussions among the audience. The UBT/BAIS team earned 2nd runner up position and UBT congratulate the amazing student team for their hard work, dedication and commitment during this past 5 month. The UBT/BAIS teams thanked UBT for providing such wonderful opportunity of innovation and entrepreneurship and partnering with leading companies in the market as Software AG. The team also thanked Professor Ali AL Rashidi and Dr Ahmad Emara from the Engineering College for their engineering consultation on the project. Also, many thanks to Ms. Arwa Alyafeai for her help in the Motion Graphic Video.Dr Haneen Shoaib, Dean of the College of Business administration, Congratulated the students and their supervisor Dr Halah for the wonderful achievement. And thanks to UBT Leaders presented in the Chairman of aboard of Trustees Dr Abdullah Dahlan, and the President Dr Weam Tunsi, for their continuous support for students to participate in National and International competitions, and fostering their innovative skills in actualizing the University’s slogan “Education for ajo. opportunities and Entrepreneurship”.
The College of Business Administration (CBA) is proud of Dr. Karim Soliman, Head of the Supply Chain Management Department, who was officially nominated by the International Basketball Federation to serve as an international referee at the Gulf Basketball Championship, which took place in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, from the 1st to the 2nd of March. Dr. Haneen Shoaib, Dean of the College of Business Administration, expressed her profound happiness and pride in this distinguished participation, emphasizing the significant value of sports and their positive contribution to enhancing team spirit and public health. Especially that the College of Business offers a Bachelor degree in Sports Management and a Sports management track in its Masters of Business Administration. She also highlighted the University’s full support of all sports activities and initiatives that aim to raise awareness and improve athletic performance, expressing her hope for continued success and excellence in future international sports events.
